Tupac Interview with Sister 2 Sister
Sister 2 Sister: What about your house in Atlanta?
Tupac: I gave the house to Kato's family. He was a gangbanger in Atlanta who got murdered in front of his home in L.A. We went to amusement parks. I wanted his family to move to Atlanta from South Central. My family didn't appreciate the house. I got a lot of family to take care of.
You wanna be bigger than life when you are out [of jail]?
I wanna be smaller than life when I'm out. Today, two girls drove from Chicago to see me. I get a bag of mail every week. I try to pick if it's a kid or if there's a picture in it, I read it.
What is it like here?
We get to shower Monday, Wednesday, Friday. But when they let me out for a visit, I just run in the shower and make the guard wait. There's now hot water in the cell and in the shower. The water comes on and off. There are rapes, homosexuality, knifings, stabbings, and slashings. I've got a suit to let me go into general population and take me into a medium security facility.
Did you get raped in jail?
How can I? I'm not in general population.
When do you get out of here?
In April. I get a quarterly review. There are some things that have to be done to be released. They say I haven't done them, but I can't because I'm locked down. I'm supposed to take certain programs and the facility has me categorized so I can't take them. All this is to keep me in jail. I write and tell them I want to do this or that, they claim they lose the papers. I need to get things done to be released for parole. I'ma make these shorter here fellas.
What happened between you and a guard over mail?
They brought me at least a 100 letters a day. Then wrote me up for having too much mail. I said, "How can you write me up for having to much mail when you all give it to me?" They call me into a room with the sergeant and two other officers. The sergeant put his hands around my neck. I wasn't responding to what they were saying. They tried to provoke me.
Do you remember threatening me, Tupac?
[He didn't remember at first] You supposed to be on my side. That limo driver pulled a gun on me. You did not ask me about it. You didn't know me. The limo driver said, "Get the fuck out of my set you muthafuckers, you stupid muthafuckers. Then he went and pressed the button for the trunk. We knew what that means. We had no weapons. You should have seen us. 20 niggas were in the car. We were all bumping heads trying to get out to stop him from shooting somebody. He's suing me in a civil suit now.
