Tupac Shakur was born Lesane Parish Crooks from Brooklyn, New York in 1971. While he was still a small child, his mom changed his name to Tupac Amaru after an Inca Indian revolutionary, "Tupac Amaru", meaning "Shining Serpent". "Shakur" means "Thankful To God" in the Arabic language.

From his childhood, everyone referred to him as the "Black Prince." For acting up, he had to read an entire New York Times paper. When he was two, his baby sister, Sekyiwa, was born. This child's father was Mutulu, a BlackPanther who, prior to her birth, had been sentenced to sixty years in jail for a fatal armored car robbery.

With Mutulu was away, the family went through many hard times. No matter where they located - the Bronx, Harlem, homeless shelters - Tupac was distressed. "I remember crying all the time. My major thing growing up was I couldn't fit in. Because I was from everywhere. I didn't have no buddies that I grew up with."

By time he turned twelve, Tupac had discovered a love for acting, writing poetry and love songs. As a young teenager, his family moved him to Baltimore ,where he went to The Baltimore School for the Performing Arts studying acting and ballet. Here, Tupac left a impression on his all of his teachers and was tons of potential. Moving to Oakland lead Tupac to discontinue going to school here, and then he started hanging around with the wrong crowd.

At fifteen, he fell for rap; he started writing lots of lyrics, walking hip hop, and leveraging his connections in New York. He was known as Mc New York who had a tough guy persona.

By the time he was twenty, Tupac was arrested eight times, and serving eight months in jail after being convicted of sexual abuse. In addition, he was the subject of two wrongful-death lawsuits, one involving a six-year-old boy who was killed after getting caught in gang-war crossfire between Shakur's gang and a rival group.

Tupac then joined the Rap group Digital Underground as a backup dancer. Just before the group achieved award winning success, then Tupac released his own album "2Pacalypse Now", which was also a his first success. The single "Brenda's Got A Baby" launched Tupac's career into what it is today. His talents also got him a role in the movie, "Juice". Tupac then released a 2nd album "Strictly for my N.I.G.G.A.Z.," which was bigger then his first number and putting him on the charts.

In late 1994, he was shot five times during a daring robbery in which the robers made off with over $40k worth of his jewelry. Shakur recovered from his injuries to produce his most accomplished album in 1995's Me Against the World

The highlight of Tupac's acting career was when he appeared in the movie "Poetic Justice" with Janet Jackson. The role made Tupac a name everywhere and showed the world that music may not only be Tupacs talent. In the middle of a part in "Above the Rim" and a Platinum album "Me against the world," Tupac's rising career was blooming. He was later brought up on sexual assault charges by a girl he met at a nightclub.

Tupac was robbed at gun point by men whose intent and purpose was uncertain. Tupac was eventually released at over $1 Million in bail money paid by Suge Knight and Death Row Records for a long term album agreement . After his release, Tupac answered everyone by releasing his best album ever, "All Eyes On Me." "All Eyes On Me" has currently sold over 7 million copies, which is revolutionary for a double CD, especially in Rap music. Tupac also in 3 other movies, "Gridlock'd", "Bullet", and "Gang Related."

On September 7th, Tupac Shakur was shot by a unknown gunmen and died on September 13, 1996. Much of what happened on this night remains a complete mystery to this very day. This picture was taken minutes before the fatal shooting. Alot of people speculate a guy named Orlando Anderson was involved in a form or retaliation, meanwhile others beleive Puff Daddy played a major role in his Death. I certainly think Puff Daddy had somehting to do with it!

Following his death, Shakur's label released, The Don Killuminati, under the pseudonym "Makaveli." The cover depicted Shakur nailed to a cross like jesus under a crown of thorns, with a map of the country's major gang areas on it. In early 1997, Gridlock'd was released, a film in which Shakur played the role of a drug addict and thug. His final movie, Gang Related, was released in early 1997.

Shakur has had more songs released after his death than while he was alive, which says alot because he was constantly making music while alive, more so than any other rapper. which shows the passion he had. Shock G said he remembered that Pac would spend entire days in the studio always, drinking Hennessy, smoking marijuana, and laying down new raps. Much of his work was only dfound and edited after his death, many songs being cuts that he did not like and thought were worthy of release. His music is still being remixed all over the net, keeping his spirit alive.

September 13, 2006 marked the tenth anniversary of Tupac's passing.
